The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences seeks a Nurse Practitioner to join the multidisciplinary team that evaluates and manages adult patients with mental health complaints who present to the Psychiatric Treatment Services Area, of the JHH Adult Emergency Department.
The Psychiatric Treatment Services area is a dedicated 12 bed unit of the adult emergency department at JHH which serves to provide specialty care and crisis services for patients with emergency behavioral health complaints. The mission of the Psychiatric Treatment Services area is to provide the highest quality care in an emergency setting with the goal of keeping patients safe during a mental health crisis until they can be fully evaluated and provided acute psychiatric management and an appropriate disposition plan. The unique work setting allows the psychiatric provider to focus on psychiatric evaluation and management while having the support of a clinical emergency medicine attending and resident who are the providers of record for the patient and responsible for medical evaluation and management.
The Nurse Practitioner will add to the expanding treatment team of dedicated staff working in this dynamic setting the team is comprised of a psychiatric nurse practitioner, psychiatric nursing staff, a physician leader of the service, clinical social workers, psychiatry administration support staff who complete insurance authorizations, psychiatry resident physicians, and the medical providers of the adult emergency department of Johns Hopkins Hospital.
Master’s degree from an accredited school of nursing. Additional experience may substitute for master’s degree. Must be licensed and certified as a Nurse Practitioner in State of Maryland. 3 to 5 years of direct patient care experience, and experience in psychiatry or emergency care experience preferred. Current CPR certification required. Must maintain current licensure and certification during duration of employment. Completion of the JHH credentialing process is required prior to start date.
